Aliano, Barletta, Costa di Rovigo, Ivrea, Nola, Pistoia, Pescara and Pordenone: these are the eight finalist cities for the title of Italian Book Capital 2022.
The jury chaired by Marino Sinibaldi, president of the Center for Books and Reading, and composed of Gerardo Casale, Stefano Eco, Cristina Loglio and Valentina Sonzini, selected them after a careful evaluation of the dossiers of the sixteen candidate cities. The eight finalist cities are due to submit their in-depth project dossiers next week for final evaluation. At the end of the hearings, the commission will indicate the winning city to Culture Minister Dario Franceschini for proclamation and subsequent awarding of the title by the Council of Ministers.
The city awarded the title of Italian Book Capital will receive half a million euros from the Directorate General for Libraries and Copyright through the Center for Books and Reading to carry out the project.
Established in February 2020, the first edition saw Chiari win, while Vibo Valentia was awarded the title in 2021.
