Fire at Palazzo Re Enzo, the historic 13th-century building in the center of Bologna, behind Piazza Maggiore. About two hours ago, columns of smoke were seen rising from the building, which these days is home to the StartUp Day event dedicated to new businesses. The building was immediately evacuated and the timely intervention of the fire brigade (on the scene with as many as ten teams) averted the worst.

The evacuation was orderly and quiet, and StartUp Day was canceled: it will be rescheduled.
