Boboli Renaissance, new openings and major restorations for the Boboli Gardens

A restoration project is currently being drawn up, and work is scheduled for 2020-2021.

Work continues under the Primavera di Boboli project, thanks to Gucci ’s donation of two million euros earmarked for a series of interventions in the Garden. Currently planned are the consolidation and restoration of the warm orchid greenhouse at the Upper Botanical Garden, work on the restoration of the aquatic plant pool and the “secret” passageway behind it, and the Cypress Walkway and the Avenue of the Plantains, for which the executive project has been completed. Therefore, the historical compositions of tree rows that have suffered heavy losses over the years will be reconstituted, with the new planting of 53 cypress trees and 25 plane trees.

And again, the project to open in the garden of the Gelateria Buontalenti, which will rise in the Chestnut Meadow in a late 19th century building, has been put in the pipeline.

Overall, such an extensive revitalization of the Garden had not been planned for more than 80 years,” said the director of the Uffizi Galleries, Eike Schmidt.
