Venice has welcomed a monumental work by Arnaldo Pomodoro: it is the"Disk in the Form of a Desert Rose," a sculpture over three meters in diameter, made of fiberglass, created in 1993.
The monumental work was loaned by the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation of Milan to Venice International University, which is based on theisland of San Servolo, and was placed there.
Venice International University also boasts works by Sandro Chia, Pietro Consagra, Oliviero Rainaldi, Fabrizio Plessi, and Han Mellin in its collection.
The president of the latter, Umberto Vattani, is “proud that the master has granted this work, a testimony of beauty in the desolation of the expanse of sand and, for this reason, exceedingly rare and precious. Pomodoro has planetary fame and his works are a boast for contemporary art.”
