Archives on the Italiens de Paris are born: to study Boldini, De Nittis, Zandomeneghi

TheMatteucci Institute in Viareggio and the Enrico Piceni Foundation in Milan have announced the creation of the Boldini-De Nittis-Zandomeneghi Archives, born from a collaboration between the two institutes. The archives will also have offices in Milan and Viareggio and will become an important point of reference for those who want to study the art of the so-called"Italiens de Paris": precisely, Giovanni Boldini (Ferrara, 1842 - Paris, 1931), Giuseppe de Nittis (Barletta, 1846 - Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 1884) and Federico Zandomeneghi (Venice, 1841 - Paris, 1917).

“The new collaboration,” the communiqué reads, “arises under the sign of rigor, scientificity and competence, indispensable in such a complex and full of pitfalls field.” The two institutes have already collaborated to organize the exhibition The Time of Signorini and De Nittis. The Nineteenth Century Open to the World in the Borgiotti and Piceni Collections, set up first at the Matteucci Institute’s headquarters in Viareggio, and these days in Turin at Spazi Ersel (the exhibition can be visited until April 28).
