Have you ever thought that your four-legged or two-legged friends (and more) might resemble some famous protagonists of artworks housed in museums around the world? As of today, they can.
Google Arts & Culture has launched a new app called Pet Portraits that allows us to find out, through a special artificial intelligence algorithm, if our beloved pet has any doppelganger ... artistic.
It only takes a few steps: first you need to install the app on your device, activate the camera, take a nice picture of your dog, cat, rabbit, fish, bird and so on. At this point, the algorithm comes into play, which recognizes where the pet is, crops its image and puts it in the foreground; then a machine learning algorithm compares our photo with the thousands of artworks in the collections of Google Arts & Culture partners to find the most similar ones. And that’s it! After finding the perfect likeness, individual images can be shared or a slideshow can be created in gif format.
You can also learn about the stories and artists associated with each artwork.
App arrives to find out which one is your pet's ... artistic doppelganger |
