Antiquarian Association of Italy donates 14,000 euros to Spallanzani and Sacco

Solidarity initiative of the Associazione Antiquari d'Italia, which donates 14,000 euros to the Spallanzani in Rome and the Sacco in Milan.

The Associazione Antiquari d’Italia has concluded a fundraising campaign to support the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome and the Luigi Sacco Hospital in Milan: 14,000 euros is the amount raised by members, who came together in a solidarity campaign to support those who have been coping with Covid-19 in recent months, giving symbolic but important support to the health workers at the two hospitals.

“The Coronavirus crisis,” says Alessandra Di Castro, president of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia, “has shown how crucial solidarity is to the survival of all of us, and our network of antiquarians in the area wanted to give a signal of support to those on the front lines of making public health safe. Individual people’s lives and the country’s recovery depended, and still depends, on all those workers who are on the front lines. That is why we have decided to allocate a contribution from our sector to the Spallanzani and Sacco. With this gesture we want to send our symbolic thanks to all health care workers in all hospitals in Italy.”

The Associazione Antiquari d’Italia represents 140 Italian art galleries, among the most prestigious nationally and internationally. It adheres to the International Confederation of Art Dealers, participates in the organization of cultural events, promotes lectures and conferences to approach and spread the knowledge of antiquities and their trade, and finally offers scholarships and prizes, sponsors scientific publications and restorations that can be a stimulus to the development of culture and the cognition of the heritage of ancient art.
