This is taking place outside of any overall planning, in defiance of Regional Law No. 5 of 2007, which provides for a coordination program to bring the System of Protected Areas of the Teatina Coast (of which the railroad bed areas also form part) into full operation, and while locally short-sighted opposition to the establishment of the National Park of the Teatina Coast is fomented.”

The National Executive Council of Italia Nostra will therefore raise the issue with local governments, the Abruzzo Region, the government and the President of the Republic, noting severe threats to the historical-cultural heritage and landscape of the Theatine Coast, and will undertake a campaign for the National Park to finally be established. Together with exponents of culture and academia, Italia Nostra is therefore launching an appeal to the media and public opinion calling for a major mobilization with the goal of returning the Costa Verde dei Trabocchi to the country.
