Cesena Film Academy has made a short film to denounce the folly of every war. The protagonists are Ukrainian refugees, students of the Cesena Film Academy, a Russian boy and a Belarusian girl; directing the short film are Gian Paolo Mai, founder and teacher of the Academy and the Ravenna Film School, and Maurizio Nari, a member and teacher of the school.
It is a visual documentary intended to raise awareness with a message of peace, with special reference to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
The short film is titled Brothers and kicks off with a lullaby sung by a Russian girl over images featuring the colors of the Ukrainian flag, blue and yellow; a young Russian man then declares it is not his war and a Ukrainian refugee repeats the words of Pope Francis “War is madness. Please stop.” The video ends with children, innocent victims who do not understand the folly of man and war.
Brothers was posted on the Cesena Film Academy website and on the social pages of the Emilia-Romagna Region. “The video is intended to raise awareness and to invite other artists to do the same with their talents (painting, writing, etc.). We would like it to be conveyed as much as possible,” said Gian Paolo Mai and Maurizio Nari.
