An extraordinary Fabergé egg celebrates ten years of Game of Thrones: the famous jewelry house has announced the creation of an unprecedented egg in the making of which Michele Clapton, costume designer for the HBO series based on the novels by George R.R. Martin, collaborated.
This specimen will cost about $2.2 million, according to American magazine Robb Report, and is inspired by the dragon eggs that Daenerys Targaryen receives in the first season of the series. According to a disclosure from the series’ costume designer, the design of the egg created “references Daenerys Targaryen’s incredible journey and the importance of color in her costumes, her passion for dragons, and the way she sends messages through her jewelry on her journey.”
The precious Fabergé egg is made of diamonds, 18-karat white gold, fine enamel and precious stones. The jewel opens and inside shows a miniature crown resting on a crystal base and a precious ruby from Mozambique. “With the crown I referenced Daenerys’ dragons, their wings, which protect the beautiful ruby representing Daenerys and her will to rule,” added Michele Clapton.
"We are delighted to honor the Game of Thrones series. Rarely has a story captured the imagination of so many people around the world," said Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, Fabergé’s director of sales and business development.
