A new Visitor Centre dedicated to the Mystic Lamb Polyptych will open in Ghent.

A new Visitor Centre, an experiential center dedicated to the Gothic cathedral and the artistic treasures it holds, will open in Ghent Cathedral in 2021. The opening date is scheduled for March 25, and here the story of the Van Eyck brothers’ Polyptych of the Mystical Lamb will be told in particular, thanks to the use of augmented reality.

After being featured in the exhibition Van Eyck. An Optical Revolution at the Museum of Fine Arts (MSK) in Ghent, the famous altarpiece can now be seen in the Villa Chapel, and on the occasion of the opening of the Visitor Centre it will find its final location in the cathedral’s ambulatory, in the Chapel of the Sacrament.

The event is one of the most anticipated events as part of the program dedicated to Van Eyck, OMG! Van Eyck was here, with which the city of Ghent wanted to pay homage to the artist and which will run throughout 2021.
