A new museum of modern and contemporary art is born in Milan: BFF Gallery

BFF Bank opens BFF Gallery, an exhibition space in its Milan headquarters. The new museum, which enhances the bank's art collection, opens with an exhibition dedicated to Paradiso Perduto by Enrico Baj. Free admission by reservation starting April 3, 2025.

Milan is enriched with a new space dedicated to art. BFF Bank has announced the opening of BFF Gallery, a museum created inside Casa BFF, the Group’s headquarters opened last November. The new exhibition space, accessible free of charge by reservation, aims to promote Italian culture and art through sharing the bank’s collection of modern and contemporary art. BFF Gallery is part of the Group’s broader commitment to the enhancement of cultural heritage. The creation of the museum responds to a vision of social responsibility, with the aim of giving back to the community some of the value generated by the financial institution. Exhibitions and events will enliven this space, designed to stimulate dialogue between the public and works of art, offering an accessible cultural experience of high scientific value. The conception of BFF Gallery stems from a reflection on how to optimize the spaces of Casa BFF. The decision to transform part of the venue into a museum is based on the idea that urban regeneration should have people at its center. Designed to encourage inclusion and sharing, the gallery maintains the architectural transparency of the building, being visible from the outside while ensuring the protection of the works on display. The partly underground exhibition area preserves the works from direct light, creating an ideal environment for their preservation.

BFF Banking Group’s contemporary art collection has a history dating back to the 1980s and includes about 250 works by some of the most important Italian artists of the 20th century. These include Valerio Adami, Franco Angeli, Enrico Baj, Alberto Burri, Lucio Del Pezzo, Lucio Fontana, Gianfranco Pardi, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Giò Pomodoro, Mario Schifano and Emilio Tadini. In 2019, a major census, restoration and digitization of the collection was launched, culminating in the Art Factor project, aimed at promoting the Group’s artistic heritage internationally as well. Since 2021, the collection has been the protagonist of a traveling exhibition that has touched several European and U.S. cities, accompanied by the publication of two volumes produced under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture. The public opening of BFF Gallery will be inaugurated with the exhibition Baj + Milton - Paradise Lost. The Paradoxes of Freedom, which will display until October 17, 2025 a series of forty etchings made by Enrico Baj in 1987. The works are inspired by John Milton’s famous poem Paradise Lost, which in over ten thousand verses recounts the origins of humanity, from the creation of Adam to the expulsion from Eden. Milton’s poem has influenced artists of all ages, providing insights into the human condition and freedom. The exhibition will offer visitors a journey through the visionary interpretation of Baj, whose works are distinguished by his ironic and provocative use of forms and materials.

“BFF Gallery was born not only out of the need to find a home for the Bank’s collection, but above all out of the desire to create, within Casa BFF, a place that would foster connection between people and the transmission of knowledge,” says Massimiliano Belingheri, CEO of BFF Banking Group. “We decided to do this through a museum, aware that art can be a unique tool for dialogue with others and for stimulating creativity and growth, both for companies and for society. We hope that it can truly be a place that is accessible and for everyone, for the promotion of Italian culture and art and for sharing the values of our Group with the whole community.”
