These days the Dutch-Italian artist Jorit Agoch is in Florence to create, in Piazza Leopoldo, a large mural dedicated to Nelson Mandela and entitled The Condominium of Rights. The work will take shape on the wall of a four-story building, intended for public housing, and will want to recall the importance of a battle for rights to which Mandela dedicated his entire life: what’s more, it will do so in a neighborhood, Rifredi, that has an ancient working-class and popular tradition.
The creation of the mural by the great street artist will take a few days, and it will be Jorit Agoch himself who will reveal it to the public and the press. The initiative is promoted by the Mandela Forum association as part of the celebrations of the centenary of Nelson Mandela’s birth, in collaboration with the Department of Welcoming and Integration, Equal Opportunities, Housing and the Department of Sport, Youth Policies and Toponomastics of the Municipality of Florence, Casa spa, Unicoop Firenze, Fondazione CR Firenze, and the Metropolitan City of Florence. You can also follow the creation of the mural live on the Mandela Forum Association’s social channels(Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
