A huge Andy Warhol retrospective is coming. It will be held in New York

From November 12, 2018 to March 31, 2019, the Whitney Museum in New York will hold the exhibition Andy Warhol-From A to B and Back Again, a huge retrospective on Andy Warhol. Curated by Donna De Salvo (deputy director, senior curator, Whitney), who had worked with Warhol at the Dia Art Foundation in the 1980s, the exhibition will display more than 350 works by the pop art guru, occupying almost the entirety of the Renzo Piano-designed building in the shadow of theHighline. It is also the first retrospective on Warhol organized in the United States since 1989. After New York, the exhibition will move to San Francisco and Chicago. "We’ve been working on organizing this event for about eight years, even before the museum moved to its new home in the Meatpacking district," explained Whitney director Adam Weinberg, pointing out that such a long gestation is due to the fact that tackling such an undertaking “takes a lot of knowledge and a lot of space.” The exhibition will focus on the production of the 1970s and 1980s.
