Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini has launched the strategic plan “Major Cultural Heritage Projects,” which finances with more than one hundred million euros (103,630,501 to be precise) a number of major cultural construction sites across the country. The plan has already received the favorable opinion of the unified state-region conference after passing through the Higher Council of Cultural Heritage.
There are eleven interventions in all: 3 million to the Archaeological Park and Museum of Sybaris for the completion of ongoing interventions to revitalize the site; 1.5 million to the Municipality of Rimini for the establishment of the Rimini Museum of Contemporary Art in the Palazzo delle Arti, within which the art collection of San Patrignano will be placed, as part of a cultural redevelopment project for the city (part of the funds will be used to redevelop the thirteenth-century Palazzo dell’Arengo and the fourteenth-century Palazzo del Podestà); 16 million euros for theCentral State Archives in Rome, which will be able to begin the redevelopment of the former Air Force warehouses, where the archives’ storage facilities will be housed; 5 million euros for the Park of Palazzo Te in Mantua, which will be redeveloped to create a large green arena for the daily life of citizens, families, sportsmen, schools and cultural initiatives on the model of large European cities; 35 million euros for the restoration and redevelopment of Palazzo Silvestri Rivaldi in Rome, which will house the Scuola Beni e Attività Culturali; 3 million euros for the redevelopment of San Giuliano Abbey in Genoa, which will house the Casa dei Cantautori Liguri; 12 million euros for the construction of the Isozaki Loggia in Florence, the monumental exit of the Uffizi Gallery; 1.1 million euros for the creation of the Laus Pompeia Archaeological Park in Lodi Vecchio, on an area of 16.000 square meters; 2 million euros for the Cà del Dutùr in Monte Isola (Brescia), which will become an exhibition venue; 4.5 million euros for the creation of an Italian Language Museum in Florence; and 20 million euros for the expansion of theVenice Arsenal.
“Eleven interventions that contribute to the birth of new cultural realities and the consolidation of others,” says Minister Franceschini. “These are projects and worksites spread throughout the country that go to improve the beauty of Italian cities and support the development of our country’s economy and tourism. Culture and tourism are an inseparable pair.”
