The Uffizi Galleries is embracingdigital innovation, saying goodbye to the paper ticket and welcoming the digital ticket. Starting today, admissions purchased online at the museum’s official website (www.uffizi.it) or through the call center (055/294883) for the Statues and Paintings Gallery, the Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens will in fact be transformed into QR codes, sent directly via email to visitors. This QR code will become the access ticket displayed directly on the visitor’s phone and will be verified and validated by reception staff using digital guns.
This new procedure, which does not replace the reservations already made under the previous system, eliminates the waiting time for collecting paper tickets, simplifies and speeds up the process of entering the galleries, and contributes to paper savings. In addition, with the ticket voucher sent via email it will be possible to download a complete route map of the museum space to be visited, offering visitors a more informative and complete experience.
“With this new system,” says director Simone Verde, “the goal is to cut down queues and make entry to the museum easier and smoother, facilitating visitors, helping to improve the quality of their stay in the museum and bringing order and beauty back to the Piazzale degli Uffizi.”
