The Egyptian Museum of Turin launches online a virtual tour for children and young people dedicated to two of the museum’s main halls, thanks to a collaboration with the cooperative Indici Opponibili, which specializes in video games and educational apps.
At http://virtualt ourragazzi.museoegizio.it it is possible to visit, via their own devices, the room dedicated to theancient village of Deir el-Medina, inhabited by artisans, artists and laborers who worked on tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens near Luxor, and the room housing the funerary trousseau of Kha and Merit, the only intact New Kingdom trousseau preserved outside Egypt.
The virtual tour was created from a series of 360-degree, high-definition panoramic photos taken by the museum’s photographers-a 3-D tour of the two halls that offers children and young people the chance to view the artifacts in a new way. There are also video contributions in which Egyptologists and museum curators Alessia Fassone and Federica Facchetti reveal the secrets of ancient Egypt.
The virtual tour also offers the opportunity to enter the Mayan Chapel, an experience not allowed by visiting the museum in person, and to interact with the museum collection.
The tour also includes a video game lasting about ten minutes, which features a little girl, Aida, sucked into a space-time loop while visiting the museum.
