The love story between Chagall and Bella told in an online performance

Friday, March 12 at 9 p.m. Facebook and Youtube is staging Bella and Chagall, a show dedicated to one of the most famous love stories in art.

On Friday, March 12 at 9 p.m. on the Facebook page and Youtube channel of Palazzo Roverella it will be possible to watch the show Bella and Chagall. The one between Marc Chagall and his Bella is one of the most well-known love stories in the history of art: many paintings by the naturalized French Russian painter of Jewish origin depict the close-knit couple.

The show is intended to be a true “hymn to love, but also to femininity, represented by the strength and beauty of Bella Rosenfeld, not only Chagall’s wife but also a talented artist and writer.” It is also a tribute to the major exhibition Marc Chagall. My Russia Will Love Me Too, on view from September 19, 2020 and extended until March 14, 2021 at Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo. Curated by Claudia Zevi, the exhibition presented more than one hundred works by the artist including paintings on canvas and paper, engravings, etchings, and plates.

The show Bella and Chagall staged by MinimiTeatri was presented for the first time as part of the Rovigo theater festival Donne da palcoscenico and is being revived online in order to once again enjoy the purity of the love feeling between Chagall and Bella through plays of color and sounds of voices and violins.

It is directed by Letizia E.M.Piva, artistic director of MinimiTeatri. Protagonists will be actors Laura Cavinato and Paolo Rossi, accompanied by violinist Antonio Aiello; with the participation of professor Micol Andreasi.
