The Children’s Museum, the first child-friendly museum innortheastern Italy, opened in Verona. It is a 1,000-square-meter itinerary spanning two floors consisting of areas dedicated to emotional and immersive experiences. Among the themes addressed by the new museum are music and colors, light andart, water andair, to try their hand at science, technology, art, and mathematics: all child-friendly, as the different thematic areas are designed for the various developmental stages of the child.
On the morning of September 10, 2019, ten little winners of a contest launched by the Children’s Museum Verona Facebook page were the first to gain access to the area where the museum’s itinerary is located: the former Magazzini Generali in Verona, at 12 Via Santa Teresa.
The project was conceived by Pleiadi and official partner is Fondazione Cariverona.
Mainly the goals of the museum are fun, a desire to learn and a lot of curiosity. As Lucio Biondaro and Alessio Scaboro, director of operations and scientific director of Children’s Museum Verona, respectively, say, it is through the amazement and notions provided to children during the visit that they are able to create for themselves a cultural background that is fundamental for their growth and their lives.
The museum has joined Hands On!- International Association of Children’s Museums, a worldwide network that brings together the most important facilities dedicated to children. “Children’s Museum wants to offer opportunities for knowledge and education modulated to the learning levels of children’s ages, integrated with the free, playful interpretation proper to the lively intellect of children, of quality guaranteed by scientific expertise: it is a mission of strong civic significance, aimed at the new generations of a society founded on knowledge as the fundamental basis of social, cultural and economic development,” commented Cariverona Foundation President Alessandro Mazzucco.
Proud Mayor Federico Sboarina, who added, “A modern and up-to-date family-friendly space, but also an interactive museum dedicated to children’s play and experimentation, as well as a perfect example of urban regeneration. The Children’s Museum represents all of this. That is why we are proud to inaugurate this new facility, the first in the entire Northeast, and to open it to the city. I thank the Pleiadi Group and Fondazione Cariverona for believing in this great project, inspired by the best international experiences in the field.”
