Royal Palace of Caserta, major restoration work begins on Monday, January 13. Modified museum itinerary

From Monday, January 13, 2020, major restoration work will begin at the Royal Palace of Caserta. The interventions are designed to restore functionality to the courtyards, roofs, Royal Staircase, the encaustic floors of the Historic Apartments, the Peschiera, and the greenhouses of the English Garden.

To allow technicians to operate, the usual museum itinerary will undergo changes, but there will also be openings of areas that were hitherto inaccessible to the public: the Court Theater, the Samnite Tombs, and some rooms on the Piano Nobile. Instead, the 19th-century backrooms will be temporarily closed.

Details will be presented by Reggia Director Tiziana Maffei at a press conference on Wednesday, January 15.
