Rome, over 120,000 visitors in two months at the new Museo del Corso. After Chagall, comes Picasso

The new Museo del Corso - Museum Pole, the new cultural institution desired and promoted by Fondazione Roma, has recorded more than 120,000 visitors in just two months. After Chagall's White Crucifixion, an exhibition on Picasso is coming soon.

The new Museo del Corso - Museum Pole, the new cultural institution desired and promoted by Fondazione Roma, has recorded more than 120,000 visitors in just two months with visits to the Permanent Collection and Historical Archives at Palazzo Sciarra Colonna and the exhibition of Marc Chagall’s White Crucifixion, which can be seen at Palazzo Cipolla from November 27, 2024 to January 27, 2025.

"Chagall in Rome - the White Crucifixion, in addition to being one of the most relevant cultural events of the Jubilee, had above all a symbolic and spiritual role for the message of evangelization and defense of the dignity of every individual. This is also testified by the visit of Pope Francis who came to admire the work, among his favorites precisely because of the message of unity between religious cultures that it inspires," said Franco Parasassi, president of Fondazione Roma. “The new Museo del Corso - Museum Pole, which opened at the end of November, is enjoying great success. We are receiving a very high number of reservation requests. All this shows that Rome is a city in which there is still room for art and beauty and to promote many cultural initiatives, and it is to this need that Fondazione Roma wants to respond through a constant commitment, which it confirms with the next prestigious exhibition dedicated to Pablo Picasso, due February 27.”

Following the success for Chagall’s White Crucifixion, the Museo del Corso-Museum Pole will in fact host from February 27 to June 29, 2025 the exhibition Picasso the Stranger, curated by Annie Cohen-Solal with a talk by Johan Popelard of the Musée national Picasso-Paris, organized by Fondazione Roma with Marsilio Arte, made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Musée national Picasso-Paris (MNPP), the main lender, the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris, the Museu Picasso Barcelona, the Musée Picasso in Antibes, the Musée Magnelli - Musée de la céramique in Vallauris, and important and historic European private collections.

More than one hundred works by Picasso will be on display for the occasion, as well as documents, photographs, letters and videos: for the second Italian stop after Palazzo Reale in Milan and Palazzo Te in Mantua, the exhibition project is enriched with a nucleus of previously unseen works, selected by the curator specifically for the Roman exhibition space. In particular, the exhibition presents an important section dedicated to the Roman spring of 1917 spent by Pablo Picasso with Jean Cocteau, Erik Satie, Serge de Diaghilev and Leonid Massine.

The exhibition dedicated to Picasso will be open to the public at Palazzo Cipolla Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Monday from 3 to 8 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
