The Maramotti Collection in Reggio Emilia has announced the name of its new director: she is the young under-40 Sara Piccinini, who had been working at the institution since its opening date (2007) holding, since 2018, the position of Senior Coordinator, and therefore dealing with communication, exhibitions, publishing projects and residencies. As Coordinator she had responsibility for the organization and planning of the Collection’s main internal and external activities, in collaboration with museums and public and private institutions in Italy and around the world.
Sara Piccinini’s is a high-profile curriculum: she studied semiotics at the University of Bologna from 2002 to 2005, also spending an Erasmus period at the Université Libre in Brussels in 2005, and then perfected her skills with a course in art marketing and communication at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York in 2012 and with courses in social media marketing, aimed mainly at galleries and art professionals, at the Fitzcarraldo Foundation in Turin and the Node Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin.
As mentioned above, she has been working at Collezione Maramotti continuously since February 2007 (so soon Sara Piccinini will celebrate her fourteenth year at the institution... and she will do so as its new director), but she also has experience outside the Reggio Emilia collection: in 2006, in fact, she did an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The Maramotti Family sincerely congratulates Sara Piccinini on her new position.
