Pompeii Archaeological Park reopened to the public today with a compulsory itinerary and restricted entry. In fact, every fifteen minutes there is access for up to forty people per shift and it is necessary to choose the time slot when purchasing tickets online. Tickets can only be purchased online at www.ticketone.it.
The Park can only be accessed from Amphitheater Square, with the possibility of exiting, via the Temple of Venus, from Exedra Square or Porta Marina. The route is one-way and is marked within the archaeological site. Starting from the Amphitheater, one will cross the entire ancient city to the Temple of Venus, admiring the great monumental complexes of the Amphitheater and the garden of the Palestra Grande, to arrive on Via dell’Abbondanza crossing the Praedia of Julia Felix. The walk along Via dell’Abbondanza will allow to perceive the richness of one of the main axes of the city with the succession of private domus and the botteche with their thermopholia for the sale of hot food. Arriving at the intersection of Via dell’Abbondanza and Via Stabiana, one can choose whether to continue the route towards the Forum, visiting the external portico of the great complex of the Stabian Baths and entering the domus of the Cornelii, crossing the atrium and the colonnaded peristyle, or to descend towards Porta di Stabia to admire the Theater district, consisting of the Teatro Piccolo-Odeion, Teatro Grande and Quadriportico. Arriving at the Central Forum, one can walk the entire outer ring overlooked by public and sacred buildings, such as the Eumachia building, the Macellum, the Temple of Jupiter, the Temple of Apollo and the Basilica. Also arriving at the Forum will be visitors who, at the crossroads of Via Stabiana, will have chosen to walk along Via del Vesuvio to the fresco of Leda and the Swan, and from there cross the House of the Golden Cupids. Here is the list of buildings that can be visited.
So from today it is possible to admire the excavations of Pompeii again from 9 a.m. to 7 p. m. (last entry at 5:30 p.m.) at a cost of 5 euros (reduced 2 euros for children aged 18 to 25 and under).
During the visit it is mandatory to wear a mask and maintain an interpersonal distance of at least one meter. Body temperature will be taken at the entrance using a thermoscanner and thermal imaging camera.
An upcoming opening is planned for Oplontis, Stabia and Boscoreale.
