New director appointed for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice: after Philip Rylands, in charge since 1979, Peggy’s granddaughter Karole Vail will head the Collection and the Italian section of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.

“Thanks to my grandmother, I have known and loved since childhood the collection, the palace and the garden. Now I want to carry on her dream,” he said.
“The collection, thanks precisely to my predecessor, is now well established and much admired. She has been a member of the Guggenheim’s curatorial staff since 1997; she is currently collaborating on the organization of the planned 2018 retrospective devoted to Alberto Giacometti at the Guggenheim in New York.
