Palazzo Barberini unveils new display of Caravaggio paintings


In Rome, the National Galleries of Ancient Art at Palazzo Barberini present a new display of Caravaggio's paintings. And until July 15, 2024, an exceptional guest enriches the Caravaggio experience among the halls of the Palazzo.

For Judith and Holofernes, perhaps the museum’s most iconic work, the decision was made to give it a new lease of life: it is now on display in room 27, with an installation solution functional to improving the visitor experience, with the aim of allowing visitors an easier stop in front of the painting.



Finally, until July 15, 2024, an exceptional guest enriches the Caravaggesque experience among the rooms of the Palace: right in front of Judith and Holofernes, and in dialogue with it, it is now possible to admire St. John the Baptist usually kept at the Corsini Gallery. This is an opportunity to find reunited and discover with new insight the relationships between the extraordinary paintings by Caravaggio belonging to the museum’s collections.

The National Galleries of Ancient Art are also participating in the European Night of Museums on Saturday, May 18, by extraordinarily opening the Palazzo Barberini venue from 7 to 10 p.m. (last access 9 p.m.) at a cost of 1 euro.
