Giulio Manieri Elia, born in Rome in 1960, graduated in History of Modern Art in 1987. Since 2000, he has been active at the Superintendency of Venice and at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, of which he was deputy director between 2009 and 2013, then director between 2013 and 2015, and then official again from 2015 and 2018: in the last three years he was in charge of coordinating conservation and restoration activities and was in charge of the department of sixteenth- and eighteenth-century works (as well as being responsible for promotion, communication, marketing and fundraising). A curator of numerous exhibitions especially on the Venetian sixteenth century, he has directed numerous restorations in Venice (notably Giorgione’s Vecchia, Veronese’s canvases in the church of San Sebastiano and Bosch’s panels in the Gallerie dell’Accademia, as well as numerous works in the same museum). He has also taught medieval and modern art history and Restoration Theory at the University of Calabria, and Museology at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.
Fabio Pagano, born in 1972, holds a bachelor’s degree in literature with a specialization in archaeology, and has been a PhD in archaeology and post-classical antiquities since 2005. After serving as archaeological officer for the Superintendency of Friuli Venezia Giulia, he was director of the National Archaeological Museum in Cividale del Friuli from 2013 to 2015. Since 2018, however, he has directed the National Archaeological Museum and Roman Theater in Spoleto and the Archaeological Area of Carsulae. And also since 2018, he has been teaching at the University of Udine as a lecturer of the course on Enhancement for Tourism of Cultural Heritage within the master’s degree program in Management of Tourism and Cultural Events.
