Naples, the city finally creates a bus to the Capodimonte Museum

Naples finally gets a decent connection to the Capodimonte Museum: the City Council has created a new bus line, which runs from the MANN to the National Museum.

Finally comes a decent connection for the National Museum of Capodimonte in Naples: one of the main problems of the Neapolitan institution has always been its difficult accessibility for those without their own transportation. Far from the center, lacking a metro stop, to date it could be reached practically only by bus, albeit with infrequent rides: the favored line was 168, with rides every 17 minutes, which became, however, 23 minutes on Saturdays and 26 on Sundays, while for the other lines the times were half an hour to three quarters of an hour between runs. Then there would be the Capodimonte Shuttle, which, however, has high prices: 8 euros round-trip ticket (it must be said, however, that it entitles the user to a 4-euro discount on museum admission).

Now the City of Naples has set up the new 3M bus line, an acronym for “3 Museums”: the new ANM (Azienda Napoletana Mobilità) bus, which will go into service on September 10, 2020, departs from the Archaeological Museum to stop at the Catacombs of San Gennaro and end its run right at the Capodimonte National Museum. The line, the City Council points out, will make use of state-of-the-art minibuses that will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a frequency of 15 minutes. The route: Porta Miano to Capodimonte (terminus), Porta Piccola, Via Miano, Regresso Capodimonte, Corso Amedeo di Savoia, Via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, Via Pessina, Via Conte di Ruvo, Via Costantinopoli, Piazza Museo and return. A connection that thus greatly facilitates access to Capodimonte, since the metro stop is located at Piazza Museo.

“Naples continues its work of growth in services to citizens and tourists,” says Deputy Mayor with responsibility for transportation, Enrico Panini. “The return of visitors must be accompanied with compliance with the Covid-19 rules but also with a service such as the 3M line that from today gives Naples a thread of art and culture. Visiting Capodimonte, discovering the Bosco, and then returning to the center, to the halls of the Mann, and delving deep into the ancient Naples of the Catacombs, will now be possible by taking dedicated Anm buses. We work so that those who visit Naples take with them the wonder but also the convenience of a visitor-friendly city.”
