MiBACT’s Youtube channel unveils two video contributions from the Royal Museums of Turin: these adhere to the campaign Culture Doesn’t Stand Still by offering images of paintings, busts, gilded stuccoes, clocks, gleaming armor, weapons, drawings and manuscripts that belong to the permanent collections of the museum venues, with an invitation from director Enrica Pagella to “get lost in the labyrinths of the collections of the Royal Museums of Turin.” Passing through the rooms of the Royal Palace, the Sabauda Gallery, the Sabauda Armory, the Museum of Antiquities, the Royal Library and the Chiablese Rooms, we will then arrive at the Chapel of the Shroud, which was returned to the public in 2017.
In the first film we then look at the precious objects in the collections, from Prehistory to the early 20th century, while in the second we will enter the Chapel of the Shroud, which has recently seen its large Baroque dome by Guarino Guarini restored.
