The first temporary museum dedicated to Umberto Boccioni is born in Morciano di Romagna, on the occasion of the one hundred and thirty-eighth anniversary of the artist’s birth: the T MUB, this is the name chosen for the museum, will be officially presented on the Boccioni Foundation ’s Facebook page on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 11 a.m.
Conceived and promoted by Giuliano Cardellini, who for more than 30 years has proposed the creation of a museum dedicated to Boccioni in the birthplace of his parents, the T MUB has a temporary home for now while waiting to find its permanent home in the house where the artist’s parents were born, which is still uninhabitable. Founding members are Giuliano Cardellini (President and Director of T MUB), Alberto Dambruso (Vice President) and Zuzanna Adamus.
The museum has the artistic direction of Beatrice Buscaroli, curator and author of essays on Futurism, and is financed by public and private contributions, foundation memberships and donations.
The temporary space aims to bring together documentation related to Boccioni’s Morciano years and family and to purchase original works or receive them on loan for use, promoting periodic cultural initiatives aimed at engaging scholars and contemporary artists.
“It is an immense happiness for me to have helped give a home and make better known this incredible artist, to whom I feel deeply attached, not only because he is from Morciano, but also and especially because he is a great source of artistic inspiration,” Cardellini commented.
“The birth of a place dedicated to the closest of the artists who followed Marinetti at the beginning of the movement seems to us a due tribute, which time passed can only raise as a model for other initiatives,” added Beatrice Buscaroli. “The aim will be to collect all possible documents related to Boccioni, to establish a library and photo library and to gather around us other enthusiasts of this artist, whose life and work are a summa of Futurism and its momentum toward a future that will hold many surprises.”
