Hermitage dedicates its live guided tour to Italy

Since March 17, theHermitage in St. Petersburg, as its halls have been closed to the public, has kicked off live broadcasts visible on its social channels.

Nineteen live broadcast s have been made so far, garnering more than 4,500,000 views-a way to admire the Russian state museum’s great masterpieces from a distance and to distract oneself in this difficult health emergency situation.

The first online visit in Italian was broadcast on March 26: the Hermitage expressed solidarity and closeness to Italy through sharing the artistic treasures it holds. In addition, Hermitage Director General Michail Piotrovsky and Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Russian Federation Pasquale Terraciano sent their video message of encouragement to Italian citizens. The live broadcast was simultaneously viewed by about 11,000 people, registering over 160,000 views.
