Starting Aug. 6, I Venerdì di Ercolano, the evening openings of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park, held as part of the MIC’s Enhancement Plan 2021 and thanks to the collaboration with the Campania Region, and included in the SCABEC calendar of Campania by night events, will return.
Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in guided tours of the artistically illuminated site with projections of some of the painting masterpieces from the 1700 excavations at Herculaneum and evocative Tableaux Vivants, curated by Teatri 35, which will offer additional cultural and artistic insights to the visit.
Special tours will be held every Friday from August 6 through September 25, starting at 8 p.m., with departures every 10 minutes, for a maximum of 18 visits per evening. Each group will consist of a maximum of 15 people each, with visitor access exclusively from the monumental entrance on Corso Resina.
To participate in Herculaneum Fridays, the cost of the ticket is 5 euros (full), 2.50 euros (reduced under 30 and over 65 and Artecard holders), free for under 18s. Holders of the “One Day One Year” subscription will be entitled to free admission to one of the evenings by reservation.
Tickets will be available for purchase until 6 p.m. on the day of the visit both online, at www.ticketone.it, and at the Archaeological Park ticket office. Tickets that remain unsold at 6 p.m. will be available for purchase until sold out at the Park ticket office on a first-come, first-served basis at the Corso Resina entrance. It is recommended to purchase tickets online at www.ticketone.it (with a presale fee of 1.50 euros).
The figurative themes chosen for the projections and tableaux vivants of the 2021 edition focus on the figure of Hercules, the hero who gives his name to the city, according to the identity theme launched with the new visual identity of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park.
“The Archaeological Park reintroduces Herculaneum Fridays to give a sense of recovery, guided under the stars by Hercules, a figure we were inspired by for the creation of the Park’s recent visual identity,” commented Park Director Francesco Sirano. “This event joins the others in the network of collaborations and synergies with territorial entities, is the case of the Municipality and the Campania Region. The visits will allow the public to spend pleasant hours and make a concrete experience of knowledge by lingering inside the Park for a further taste of normality towards which we are moving with great commitment.”
The event is supported by the City of Herculaneum.
