The coronavirus emergency is having negative effects on many museums: the most immediate one is the unexpected lack of revenue. Thus, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan (to which, by the way, a long in-depth article is dedicated in the first 2020 issue of our print magazine Finestre Sull’Arte on paper), among the most beautiful and valuable institutions in the Lombard capital and beyond, has started a fundraiser entitled Give us a ticket to make up the losses from lost admissions and canceled events: what is being asked is simply to gift a ticket to the museum to help it restart.
In fact, the museum will be closed until March 1, which will result in a week of lost revenue from ticket receipts, added to the cancellation of events. Add to that the uncertainty over the progress of the emergency situation makes it impossible to make predictions, and the risk is that the lost revenue will be prolonged, generating even more difficulties. More than that, tourism to Milan is expected to drop dramatically, and one can only hope that the major events that have led to the growth of the city and the Museum over the years will not be missed. In March, April, and May of 2019, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum had seen more than 11,000 people face its entrance, almost half of its annual audience, and the prospect of downsizing severely undermines not only the growth that has been underway for some years but the very sustainability of the Foundation.
So, the fundraiser, aimed at individuals and companies, aims to support the Museum at this critical time by offering it the possibility to guarantee the planned activities when it reopens. The Gift Us a Ticket campaign provides, for donors, free tickets and membership cards. You can donate, by bank transfer or credit card, any amount from 10 euros, according to the crowdfunding mode, that is, certain offers correspond to rewards: for those who donate 20 euros there will be a free ticket, for those who donate 50 there will be two, for those who donate at least 100 euros there will be a membership card valid until December. To help Museo Bagatti Valsecchi one can go to the appropriate page opened on the museum’s website, or send a bank transfer to Fondazione Bagatti Valsecchi Onlus - Banca INTESA SAN PAOLO Fil.55000 Piazza Ferrari 10, Milano - Iban: IT 84 A 03069 09606 100000062267.
