Geronimo Stilton, the mouse journalist who is the protagonist of countless children’s books, has been chosen as the testimoanial of the educational project aimed at the young citizens of the territory of the Unesco site “Pompeii, Herculaneum, Torre Annunziata,” an initiative carried out in collaboration with the ’Permanent Observatory of the Historic Center of Naples- Unesco site.
The project will see students from 12 different institutes in the municipalities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Torre Annunziata, Trecase and Naples involved in an educational educational itinerary full of workshops and visits dedicated to archaeological sites in order to deepen their knowledge of the cultural heritage, understand its value of uniqueness, the importance of their preservation and transmission of their history.The end result of the workshops will be a guidebook and a map of the 3 sites whose contents will be elaborated by the children, with a direct look and interest of the young users, and with the original graphic framework of Geronimo Stilton.
The project was presented in the excavations of Pompeii in the presence of the general director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Massimo Osanna, the general director of the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum, Francesco Sirano, the director of the Great Pompeii Project, General Mauro Cipolletta, Silvia Patrignani of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Unesco Office, Elena Pagliuca of the Permanent Observatory of the Historic Center of Naples- Unesco site, and the real Geronimo Stilton in mustache and fur.
The educational project is carried out in collaboration with Atlantyca Entertainment, the Milan-based company that manages the international publishing, animation and licensing rights of the Geronimo Stilton character. The Geronimo Stilton book series, published in Italy by Edizioni PIEMME, has become a global phenomenon with 151 million books sold worldwide and 3 animated series co-produced with Rai Fiction and distributed in over 130 countries.
