Genoa, Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino opens with guided tours to discover Bernardo Strozzi

On the occasion of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of Genoa, Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino will be extraordinarily open on Wednesday, June 24, with guided tours by appointment from 3 to 7 p.m.

There will be a chance to discover the new Bernardo Strozzi initiative in Genoa and Liguria: a panel tour of the painter’s art that winds its way from the west to the east of Liguria, discovering public collections that can still be visited in churches and palaces. An itinerary that from his beginnings in Campo Ligure and the Stura Valley continues with the frescoes in the lost church of San Domenico (now in the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti) through the frescoes with the Triumph of David on the vault of Palazzo Branca Doria and the frescoes with classical subjects of Aeneas and Dido in Villa Centurione Carpaneto. An important in-depth study is devoted to the rediscovered fresco-masterpiece on the first piano nobile of Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino, the only palace open to the public where it is possible to admire Strozzi’s frescoes.

The exhibition, produced with the support and patronage of Regione Liguria and Agenzia InLiguria, can be visited until October 2020.

It will also be possible to visit the Secret Garden, which allows visitors to enjoy some scenic views, such as the path of the Caesars’ gallery, with a unique perspective of the Grotto of Adonis hunting the wild boar.
