Museums Week, the initiative conceived last summer by Minister of Cultural Heritage Alberto Bonisoli, who from the first days of his inauguration had expressed his desire to redesign the days of free access to museums: in particular, his intention was to move the free entries away from the high season months and concentrate them in the months of lower attendance. Thus was born a week of free access at a time when museums are usually under-visited, the first week of March: thus, for this 2019, the first edition of the free week will be held March 5-10. All this is preceded by the anticipation of the now “classic” #domenicalmuseo: as is customary, museums will also be open for free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month (so Sunday, March 3).
The same applies to Museum Week from March 5 to 10: for the occasion, all state museums will be open free for everyone, every day of the initiative and for the duration of the day. To find out the list of open museums, as well as the initiatives that museums will be planning for the free week, just go to the Ministry of Culture website (it should be kept in mind that this is a constantly updated page, so it is advisable to visit it frequently). Finally, you can share your experience on social media using the hashtag #WeekOfMuseums.
