Florence, residents will be able to visit all municipal museums, all year round, with only 10 euros. Here is the new "card of the Florentine"

Florence, the 'Card of the Florentine' arrives: a pass that allows year-round visits to all of Florence's civic museums for only 10 euros.

Starting Oct. 1, all Florentines, residents of Florence or the Metropolitan City area will have privileged access to civic museums thanks to the Florentine’s Card. The pass, valid for an experimental period of one full year, guarantees unlimited entry and three guided tours (by reservation only) in the museum and cultural spaces of the City of Florence, all for the price of €10.

“The Florentine’s Card is a cultural passport dedicated to residents of Florence and the Metropolitan City,” says Culture Councillor Tommaso Sacchi, who proposed the initiative. “In fact, we believe it is fundamental that Florentines can take advantage of a ’special’ ticket for what are ’their’ museums, and this is in addition to the opportunities already offered with the Metropolitan Sundays, which we continue to organize monthly with free access for metropolitan citizens, and with the other culture promotion initiative underway, namely free admission to all civic museums open on Mondays for all young Europeans between 18 and 25 years old.”

“The popular price of this Pass,” Sacchi adds, “is also a way to offer an opportunity to multiply the opportunities to visit and to attract to our museums those who are usually not interested or have not yet had a chance to visit them. We live in a political phase in which it is right for an area like Florence to claim the centrality of culture as a basic service that is accessible from the price with held. This is a revolutionary and very important approach that I believe in very much and that I started working on from the first day as alderman that I set out to implement Mayor Nardella’s mandate program.”

The card allows entry to the following museums and sites: the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio, the Museum of Santa Maria Novella, the Novecento Museum, the Stefano Bardini Museum, the Brancacci Chapel and the Salvatore Romano Foundation, the Fortress of Belvedere and the towers and gates of the former city wall, the Auschwitz Memorial, the Gino Bartali Cycling Museum and the Bigallo Museum.
