Starting today in Carrara The Museum Goes to School, the project to digitize the city’s museum content aimed at all schools in the area. Implemented by the Municipality of Carrara in collaboration with Nausicaa SpA, the initiative aims to have pupils aged 6 to 19 discover local museum itineraries directly from their classrooms. This will be possible thanks to videoconference meetings with the facilities’ operators who will bring the museums to the classroom with the help of newly created multimedia content, such as animated films, documentaries and 3D virtual tours.
It is possible to choose from the project’s various proposals depending on the age group of the pupils to whom it is addressed: in fact, each path is tailored to engage pupils and stimulate them to debate and discover the cultural heritage of Carrara’s museum system. There is also a choice between thematic lessons dedicated to older children or animated films aimed at children aged 6 to 10. The Student route (11 to 19 years old) includes eight lessons for each selected museum: thematic lessons will introduce students to the museum and its routes through a documentary, and a museum operator will guide them on a virtual tour to learn more about the subject matter. The Junior track (ages 6 to 10) includes an animated film for each selected museum: children will experience together with the animated characters the stories and mysteries behind each work. It is possible to book up to three lessons (one per museum) for the Junior route and up to eight lessons (with customization of the offer according to the needs of the teacher) for the Student route.
Available lessons include a choice of Carrara and the Apuan Alps, the Marble Museum, Transport, the Marble Museum’s Historical Marble Library, Luni Roman colony, The Art of Marble in Carrara, Domenico Zaccagna distinguished geologist, and Felice Vatteroni sculptor from Carrara.
