The Uffizi Galleries have launched a digital contest to celebrate the arrival of spring: it is called Botticelli Spring Marathon and is a digital marathon organized by the museum’s Digital Communication Department. The recipients are all Internet users who have a social account, and participating is very simple: just post on Twitter, with the hashtag #BotticelliSpringMarathon and addressing it to the Uffizi’s account (@UffiziGalleries) an interent photo of the Spring of the great Sandro Botticelli. It can be a photo taken directly at the Uffizi or a reinterpretation of the great Florentine painter’s panel. The painting may not even be the subject of the image.
In addition, throughout today, there will be a dedicated panel below the work that will allow people to tweet their image in real time on the museum’s digital bulletin board. The shots deemed best will be rewarded by being displayed in a virtual exhibition entitled With Spring in Your Eyes... , which will be posted on the Florentine gallery’s website.
