Restoration work has been completed on the frescoes by Giotto and his workshop in the Magdalene Chapel, inside which is preserved the oldest portrait of Dante. The frescoes, on which diagnostic and maintenance work has been carried out, depict Paradise, and the interventions were made possible thanks to the support of the Fondazione il Bargello onlus through ArtBonus and the collaboration between the Bargello Museums and theOpificio delle Pietre Dure, which carried out the diagnostic investigations and restoration. The Foundation has also created a video to show the work inside the Chapel, and starting March 25, on the occasion of Dantedì, a preview will be available on the website fondazioneilbargello.it (created by Studio Neri Torrigiani).

This is just one of the many initiatives that the Bargello Museums are dedicating to Dante Alighieri. The Fondazione CR Firenze will contribute to the realization of the exhibition Honorable and Ancient Citizen of Florence and to the financing of a series of free workshops aimed at children and families dedicated to the discovery of Dante and 14th-century Florence, which will take place during the opening of the two exhibitions dedicated to the Supreme Poet, namely the one already mentioned and another scheduled for September entitled La mirabile visione. Dante and Comedy in the Symbolist Imaginary).
