Fondazione Torino Musei launches Art for Two, a new format conceived by Google Arts & Culture. In Italy, only GAM and MAO in Turin have experimented with this new museum visit proposal by joining the project, while in Europe the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
The intent is to open the museum’s doors beyond national borders, promoting culture and art even in this difficult situation, but also to offer the public a unique and educational experience through each video.
The format consists of an informal video call conversation between the museum director and an international influencer/youtuber, respectively in the halls of the museum building and in the home studio: questions are asked, curiosities and details about the works are told, and one gets lost in a masterpiece. The director accompanies the influencer on a virtual tour, at the same time allowing all users to see the museum from a privileged and unprecedented point of view.
As for the MAO, director Marco Guglielminotti Trivel talks with Christopher Michaut, aka Mr. Bacchus, instagramer and digital curator for several international museums: the director and Mr. Bacchus offer a new vision of the museum, one that entices people to visit. Thanks to them, we find out what the director thinks is one of the most significant works in the museum; we also get to see the South and Southeast Asian gallery from a never-before-seen glimpse.
As for GAM, the dialogue takes place between director Riccardo Passoni and Sarah Urist Green, curator, youtuber, and host of the PBS program The Art Assignment. Passoni virtually leads Sarah Urist through the halls of the museum, dwelling on some of the most prized pieces of the twentieth-century collections: from de Chirico to the historical avant-gardes, from Lucio Fontana to Pop Art.
