A virtual museum entirely dedicated to Raphael has been born: Raphael in Virtual Reality. It is a 3D environment, set up by Skylab Studios, modeled by David Farris and rendered virtual by Tiziano Crescia and Leonardo Tosoni, which virtually houses the Urbino artist’s masterpieces. Accessible to all and visitable through tablets, smartphones and even with virtual reality helmets, it is presented as an interactive and free space, organized and designed by Samantha Calvaresi in collaboration with Miriam Paradisi.
Thanks to an Augmented Reality system, the twenty-two works of Raphael become interactive works that tell their own story and that of their author. Ivo Randaccio will interpret the famous artist and explain the details of the masterpieces, but more than thirty people have contributed to the project, who in turn give voice to each work. Each painting is then accompanied by information, audio guides and in-depth insights edited and illustrated by Vittorio Maria de Bonis.
In addition, with children in mind, Skylab Studios used the morphing technique and transformed some characters from Raphael’s paintings into cartoons, drawn by Alessandro Ranghiasci and animated by Silvia Amantini.
The Raphaello VR museum has provided a section dedicated to the hearing impaired with LIS videoguides to make the works of Raphael displayed in the virtual gallery usable.
And it will be possible to walk through the rooms of the museum accompanied by the soundtrack specially created by Marco Guidolotti.
To make the immersive visit, thanks to virtual reality, all you have to do is wear a cardboard or a VR helmet, insert your smartphone inside and you will immediately find yourself inside the museum, to be able to discover the works and history of Urbino through various multimedia contents.
The project has also been selected by the Digital Solidarity site of the Ministry for Technological Innovation and Digitization, thanks to which with a simple click one can connect to the museum and begin the visit.
