Auctions Jan. 20-26: it's Botticelli week!


Here are the week's auctions: there is also the highly anticipated auction that will put up for sale the portrait attributed to Botticelli, at Sotheby's.

Pandolfini is holding today’s Modern and Contemporary Art auction featuring works by artists such as Giuseppe Santomaso and Giorgio De Chirico.



There are four auctions at Cambi Aste: from Jan. 21 to Feb. 4 we have Modern Art; from Jan. 22 to Feb. 11 there will be Collectible Sticks; from Jan. 25 to Feb. 10 we have January Antiques; and from Jan. 26 to Feb. 9 is scheduled Silverware.

At the Baboon isAuction 214 held on Jan. 20, 21 and 22. Items for sale include wagon lamps, candlesticks and photoligraphs.

At Arcadia, theAuction at Time - Modern and Contemporary Art - Graphics and Drawings, which sells works by artists such as Marino Marini, Carlo Levi and Antonio Tamburro, is ongoing until Jan. 28.

There are many auctions Christie’s has scheduled over the next few days: today there are Jewels & Watches Online: La Dolce Vita and, through Feb. 10, Mapping Modern and Contemporary Art; Jan. 21 there is Outsider and Vernacular Art and In Praise of America: Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and Broadsides; Jan. 22 is Dawn of Spring: Chinese Paintings Online; Jan. 26 is The Collection of Mr. & Mrs. John H. Gutfreund 834 Fifth Avenue; through Jan. 28 the Old Master Prints auction will take place.

From Jan. 22 to Jan. 30, Sotheby’s is holding its Masters Week auction: works for sale include Sandro Botticelli ’s masterpiece Young Man Holding a Roundel (to which we have devoted a lengthy article), a rare biblical masterpiece by Rembrandt van Rijn depicting Abraham and the angels, and a figure of Autumn attributed to Baroque geniuses Pietro and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
