Two 9,000-euro semester grants in Paestum for young archaeologists

The Paestum Archaeological Park announces two six-month scholarships for young archaeologists for excavation activities.

The Paestum Archaeological Park has published a call for applications for two six-month scholarships, worth 9,000 euros each, for two young archaeologists: it is the first state museum in Italy to carry out such an operation, director Gabriel Zuchtriegel points out.

The two fellowships are for a period lasting from October 2017 to March 2018 and involve participation in archaeological research and the 2017 excavation campaign in the Paestum area. In particular, the two fellows will be in charge of the planning and documentation of the stratigraphic excavation (with digital and vector acquisition and processing of plans and graphic material), laboratory activities and cataloguing, scientific analysis of the data, and collaboration in the communication and dissemination of the results obtained through publications, conferences, conventions and whatnot. The competition is open to Italian or foreign archaeologists who possess a postgraduate degree or PhD in archaeology or equivalent qualification. Experience in stratigraphic archaeological excavation, digital acquisition and processing of documentation from stratigraphic archaeological excavation, survey techniques, and physical fitness for employment required.
