The Ragghianti Foundation, as part of its commitment to the promotion of historical and cultural research, has launched the new call for postdoctoral fellowships, now in its ninth consecutive year. The fellowship, worth 9,000 euros, is intended for researchers who have completed their doctorates after March 1, 2020, and aims to encourage studies focused on the figure and work of Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti and Licia Collobi, two fundamental personalities in the Italian cultural landscape of the 20th century. The initiative is made possible thanks to the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, which for years has supported the Ragghianti Foundation in its mission to preserve and enhance its archival and cultural heritage. The call invites researchers to propose original research topics that can offer new insights and insights into the lives and works of the two protagonists, drawing on the archival and photographic collections held by the Foundation. Research should focus on little-explored aspects of Ragghianti and Collobi’s scholarly production, with the aim of bringing to light new reflections and discoveries. This year’s call is aimed at those who, after completing their doctorate, have the ambition to delve into the work of two figures whose legacy is still of great relevance in the field of historical and artistic studies.
The call has already seen the participation of numerous young scholars in past years. Among the previous winners last year was Carolina Trupiano Kowalczyk, who, thanks to the grant, dedicated her research to Ragghianti’s interest in eighteenth-century art, with a particular focus on his connection to the Venetian cultural milieu. Carolina Trupiano Kowalczyk’s project will be completed by the end of May, with the results expected to be published in the next issue of the Quaderni della Fondazione Ragghianti series, which collects the fellows’ research. Those interested should apply by June 9, 2025, while the fellowship period will extend from October 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026. To participate, applicants should submit their application through the official website of the Ragghianti Foundation, www.fondazioneragghianti.it, where the full call for applications and the application form can be viewed and downloaded. The selection of applicants will be based on the quality and originality of the research proposal, with particular attention to the ability to explore new horizons in the field of Ragghianti and Collobi studies.
“The call for post-doc research dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Ragghianti, for the ninth consecutive year,” say director Paolo Bolpagni and president Alberto Fontana, “confirms itself as one of the qualifying points of our institution’s activities, fulfilling in a particular way the vocation of the Foundation, which has among its institutional purposes that of putting up scholarships for deserving young people.”
