Genoa’s “Edoardo Chiossone” Museum of Oriental Art, one of the most important museums of its kind in Italy, is looking for a new director. The City of Genoa is seeking a figure who will be called upon “to exercise an important role in the management, curatorship, programming, communication, coordination and monitoring of all museum management activities.” Knowledge of Japanese language and spoken and written English, high-level skills in art history and history of oriental arts, knowledge of museology, economics, cultural heritage management and cultural marketing, and knowledge of procedures for restoration and redevelopment of artistic heritage are required, as well as communication skills and ability to conduct scholarly activity and aptitude for collaboration on fundraising campaigns.
The call for applications expires on October 13, 2017. There are exams consisting of two written tests (a project paper and a ten-question questionnaire) and an oral test, during which knowledge of foreign languages will be ascertained.
