Works from BPER collection on display in Modena, from Carracci to Guido Reni to Guercino

An exhibition A treasure chest for art opens in Modena. Ancient and modern paintings from BPER Banca collections: on display works by Carracci, Guido Reni, Guercino

From Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. in Modena, Via Scudari 9, the exhibition "A Casket for Art. Ancient and Modern Paintings from BPER Bank Collections," an exhibition that kicks off the cultural project "The Gallery. Collection and Historical Archive, " a project that stems from an awareness of the importance of the different collection corpuses (from Emilia-Romagna, Abruzzo and Campania) that make up Bper Banca’s artistic heritage. These are complemented by the notified historical archives, a true account of the history of Bper Banca and the territory in which it was founded in 1867.

For Bper Banca President Luigi Odorici, “not only the size, but the historical and cultural depth of these collection and archival nuclei have made it clear that there is a need to rethink the very approach to their preservation, protection, enhancement and usability, objectives that can only be pursued through their more organic and orderly management.”

“A Casket for Art” (the exhibition is curated by Lucia Peruzzi) presents a selection of works from BPER Banca’s collection. Alongside masters from the Emilia-Romagna area, including Cristoforo Canozi da Lendinara, Francesco Bianchi Ferrari, Ludovico Carracci, Guido Reni and Guercino, a number of paintings from the Neapolitan 19th century selected from the nucleus of the former Banca della Campania collection are presented, while a very rare panel by Saturnino Gatti "Madonna and Child," among the symbols of the former Carispaq collection, represents the important nucleus from Abruzzo.

The exhibition will run from Dec. 2, 2017 to Jan. 7, 2018, Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. Closed Dec. 31. For information and reservations you can call 059/2021093 or email lagalleria@bper.it.
