What was Milan like in Leonardo's time? An exhibition gives the answer

From July 9 to Dec. 31, 2019, the exhibition 'Milan through Leonardo's Eyes' is running at the Centro Diagnostico Italiano in Milan.

The photographic exhibition Milano con gli occhi di Leonardo, conceived and realized by Fondazione Bracco, CDI - Centro Diagnostico Italiano and Accademia Teatro alla Scala and open to visitors in Milan from July 9 to December 31, 2019 at CDI, is dedicated to the encounter between the city of Milan and the genius of Leonardo, on the 500th Anniversary of his death.

What was Milan like when Leonardo first arrived there in 1483, from the Florentine Medici court? From this question developed the path of the exhibition, which winds its way through twelve stages, symbolic places of 15th-century Milan, including the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Palazzo Borromeo, the Crypt of the Church of San Sepolcro and Ca’ Granda. A narration through images by five young female photographers who have just completed the Photography and Video course from the Scaliger Academy in dialogue with the stories of art historian Maria Alessandra Filippi. The aim is to discover and rediscover with different eyes the city of Milan: as red at heart as the bricks of its houses and as blue as the multitude of waterways that ran through it.

The spaces of the CDI-Centro Diagnostico Italiano return to host an exhibition born from the collaboration between Fondazione Bracco and the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, united by a partnership since 2011 as part of the “progettoDiventerò” dedicated to young people.

The cycle of exhibitions launched in 2010 in collaboration with the CDI is renewed every year in the belief, supported by scientific evidence, that exposure to art and culture contributes to the overall improvement of the quality of life, a complementary objective of the intervention is to enhance growing talents.
