The Pastificio Cerere Foundation is hosting until June 5, 2020 the exhibition Buona Fortuna, the first solo show in Italy by Diana Lelonek, curated by Jakub Gawkowski. Produced in collaboration with thePolish Institute in Rome, the exhibition is the result of a residency by the Polish artist and curator at Pastificio Cerere last January.
Diana Lelonek creates interdisciplinary projects based on research inspired by the natural sciences andeco-activism, which address issues such as human impact on nature and the end of anthropocentrism, understood as a geological epoch in which the Earth’s ecosystem is strongly affected by the effects of human action. Through photography, the artistic use of mold, and the display of objects commonly considered junk, the artist offers a critical view on the processes of overproduction and unlimited growth.
Working with image and sound, Diana Lelonek explores the relationship betweencultural identity and feelings of belonging and loss. The artist’s vision focuses on inter-specific relationships, cultural rituals related to nature and their histories, which provide insights into the pre-human past, the crisis of the present, and the uncertain future of the planetary environment.
