From Sept. 8 to Nov. 4, 2018, theformer Monte dei Pegni (pawnshop) of Palazzo Branciforte in Palermo will host a solo exhibition by Marzia Migliora (Alessandria, 1972) entitled"Voce del verbo avere."
The exhibition is part of the initiatives of Palermo Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2018 and is a collaboration between Fondazione Merz and Fondazione Sicilia.
In a labyrinth of rooms with full-height wooden structures, Marzia Migliora’s exhibition is developed, which aims to trigger a political and social reflection on the current condition of man starting from the historical memory of the place.
Three previously unseen works, Voce del verbo avere (2018), Pane di bocca (2018) and L’arte della fame (2018), and the installation La fabbrica illuminata, created on the occasion of the Velme exhibition held in 2017 at the Fondazione Merz at Ca’ Rezzonico in Venice, will be on display.
The works will revolve around the themes of economics, money, food and hunger. Money for this artist liberates from the condition of slavery, but it also establishes new slavery.
The exhibition is curated by Valentina Bruschi and Beatrice Merz.
