Two masterpieces from the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte made by Claude Lorrain and Sassoferrato are on display at BIG-Borsa Italiana Gallery in Milan.

From March 1 to 30, 2019, two masterpieces from the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte are on display at BIG-Borsa Italiana Gallery in the underground of Palazzo Mezzanotte in Milan. They are Landscape with the Nymph Egeria by Claude Lorrain and theAdoration of the Shepherds by Giovan Battista Salvi, known as Sassoferrato: the works have been restored thanks to the project Revelations. Finance for Fine Arts that kicked off in June 2018. As part of that project, eight paintings from the Capodimonte Museum were restored: companies from Campania participated in ELITE, the international program of Borsa Italiana established in 2012 in collaboration with Confindustria dedicated to companies with high growth potential. Companies Tecno srl, D&D Italia D’Amico Spa, Protom, Cartesar, Epm, Pasell, Graded, and TEMI participated in the restoration of the canvases and won, in December 2018, the prestigious "Patrons of the 21st Century 2018" award devised by pptArt to identify, enhance, and promote excellence in institutional, corporate, and private patronage at the international level.

Landscape with the Nymph Egeria depicts the nymph as she receives the news of the death of her husband Numa Pompilius. The painting is set in an imaginary landscape inspired by Lake Nemi in the feudal lands of the Colonna family, which commissioned the work in 1669. This belonged in the 19th century to the Bourbon collections: it was purchased at the behest of King Ferdinand IV Bourbon.
Sassoferrato ’sAdoration of the Shepherds was purchased in 1848 by the Bourbons and is the only painting by the artist in southern Italian collections. Remarkable is the sweetness that shines through the figure of the Virgin.

“Our works of art are the true ambassadors of the Capodimonte Museum and Real Bosco, and the Revelations Project with Borsa Italiana is proof that institutional collaboration is good for culture and museums, just as ongoing dialogue with businesses is essential for true 21st-century patronage,” said Capodimonte Museum and Real Bosco director Sylvain Bellenger.
